Do you want to know and experience Somatic Experiencing®?

The first step is the introductory workshops. Specially designed for those who do not know and are interested in Dr. Peter Levine’s approach, they make it easier to experience this method and assess whether it is the tool they are looking for.

The workshops are given at weekends and are theoretical and practical, combining the program topics with exercises.

In the following video, Dr. Peter Levine explains his vision and approach to trauma, applied to soldiers returning from the front in the U.S., and the body’s power of self-healing.

Somatic Experiencing® aims toRETURN INNATE WISDOM TO OUR BODY and restore the communication between body and mind.

Unlike other cognitive and emotional therapies (“top-down” approaches) SE is a “bottom-up” approach, which stimulates awareness of body sensations and movements to integrate them with thought and emotion.

About the teacher:

Giselle Genillard

Founder and director of SOS INTERNATIONALE, she is a midwife, Rolfer, therapist of Somatic Experiencing® (SE®). Founding Secretary of the Board of EASE, European Association for Somatic Experiencing® (European Association of Somatic Experiencing®).

Giselle introduced Peter Levine’s SE trainings in England and France and is specialized in working with post-traumatic stress in childhood, adolescence, war situations and high stress.

Her work focuses on deepening the transformation that can arise when the trauma is resolved, and the innumerable benefits associated with the person, society and the general world.

What do our students say?

“Somatics training is unique and essential. In the end all therapy must enter into the patient’s felt pain in order to make a real transformation, but those wounds are so protected that they have to be developed with much care and love, as the patient can break again. Thanks to Somatics training we can work with patients with very severe pathologies. The person is empowered by realizing his or her own system and the brain brings him or her the right information at the right time”.

Lucía Martínez Domínguez, Sanitary Psychologist, psychotherapist and trained in SE

“I live in the UK and decided to travel to El Rompido in Spain to study Somatic Experiencing, both because of the quality of the trainers and the place where the classes take place. The three years have been a wonderful process of transformation that has made a change in my life possible.”

Anita Ogilvie, Therapist and SE Trained

“In my professional career I have been investigating the relationship between stress and pain in the body for many years. And SE training was a before and after in my life. It gave me many answers to many questions that I had been asking myself for years. It has been a change at the professional level in my approach, to be more effective, and to see how the defensive response is behind so many diseases. On a personal level it was also an important change, since learning is from experience, we have to live it before us, so that later we can apply it to our patients/clients”.

Carlos López Obrero, Physiotherapist and SE trained

“It is a fundamental training for every therapist to be able to help the patient to regulate and to work through the trauma. I used to believe that the best way to work through trauma was for the client to tell their story repeatedly, but now I know that that doesn’t help, but that they need experiences of connection and inner security to be able to process the difficult later. The important thing for the person is to teach them to self-regulate their nervous system in order to release their tensions, wounds and trauma.”

Alberto Martín-Loeches Barral, Gestalt therapist and trained in SE

I use many SE tools in the workshops I give for my students. I would highlight above all the way of being present with another person, that is
stay with the other person while staying with you, 50% with me, 50% with the other person. Also the “Titulación”, considered a form of exposure
gradual that allows contact with the unpleasant sensations that provoke threatening situations without feeling overwhelmed and finally the “Pendulation”, which basically is to teach that the autonomic system oscillates in a natural way and it is necessary to know how to accept both the pleasant and the most intense sensations without overflowing. I notice that I help my students to ” disidentify ” themselves from the role of victim and to reconnect with the meaning of life.
